How to Turn 2D Images into 3D with GIMP and G'MIC
Hello! In today's tutorial, we're going to explore how to turn 2D images into 3D using GIMP with the G'MIC filter. This method adds highlights and shadows to your images, giving them a 3D appearance without actually rendering them in 3D. Let’s dive in!
Step 1: Create a New Image
- Open GIMP and go to File > New.
- Set the image dimensions to 1920x1080 and press OK.
- Zoom out using the Minus key on your keyboard.
- Change the background color to white by dragging the foreground color to the canvas.
Step 2: Import and Prepare the Image
- Import your image by dragging it into the GIMP workspace. For this example, we’ll use a heart image.
- Right-click on the image layer and select Layer to Image Size.
Step 3: Apply the G'MIC Filter
- Go to Filters > G'MIC.
